"Crack" of Djibouti

This was a once-in-a-lifetime weekend! Several of us went and dove the "Crack".  The Crack is a fault line in Africa.  It was AMAZING!!  Not too far from the surface I could see the fault line.  There was no mistaking it because there was a narrow (3-4-foot) gap in the floor of the ocean.  In it, there was nothing but pitch black!  I actually descended into it, all the while hoping there wasn't an earth quake!  Here are some pictures of our overnight camping trip the day before, the fault line dive and videos of dolphins swimming next to us.  UNBELIEVABLE!!

Marine Corps 237th Birthday Ball

November 10th is the Marine Corps 137th birthday. The American Embassy in Djibouti hosted the birthday ball at the Djibouti Palace Kempenski Hotel. I've always wanted to go to a Marine Corps Ball and finally got to go to one. It lived up to my expectations. The Marines don't do anything 1/2 way. It was first class from the setting, to the meal, to the music, and the company.
